The collaboration started with a meeting of five university professors on November 10, 2023, including assistant professor Dr. Kanu Priya Mohan (BSRI, SWU), professor Dr. Stuart C. Carr (Head, Project GLOW), professor Dr. James Liu, Dr. Minh Nguyen from Massey University, Dr. Mendiola Teng-Calleja (Joy), Dr. Felice Caringal-Go from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, and Dr. Jeffrey Godbout from Baltimore University, USA.

The main focus of this first meeting was the Course on SL, which will utilize the four sections from the new book “TACKLING PRECARIOUS WORK: Toward Sustainable Livelihoods”: 1) Sustainable Livelihoods, 2) Fair Incomes, 3) Work Security, and 4) Social Protection.

The 2nd meeting was held on November 10, 2023. Participants from 3 universities joined the meeting, including SWU, Massey University, and Ateneo de Manila University.

The focus of the meeting was, Firstly, Research Collaboration- Sustainable Livelihoods/ Sustainable Tourism. Broad topic- Sustainable Livelihoods/ Sustainable tourism/ community-based tourism. What makes livelihoods sustainable in agriculture and tourism across different contexts/ countries? The different contexts include the agriculture/ fishing industry and oceanic sustainability. Other topics include social enterprises, SL in different communities, Precarious work, and Migrant workers. Secondly, for a website for the collaboration, we decided on a name and structure of the web. The Thailand team will help develop the website.

The third meeting was held on February 8th,2024. Participants from 7 universities, including SWU, Massey University, Ateneo de Manila University, Univ of Cape Town, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Glasgow, and the University of Edinburgh, joined.

The focus of the meeting was the SliC Project Proposal draft intended for submission to UNESCO by Prof. Carr and Dr. Minh, the SLiC web development by Dr. Dusadee, and the Elgar Companion to Living Wages and the UN Sustainable Development Goals book by a. Dr. Joy and Dr. Ines.

The 4th meeting was held on March 7th, 2024. Participants from 6 universities joined, including SWU, Massey University, Ateneo de Manila University, Univ of Cape Town, University of Glasgow, and the University of Edinburgh.

The focus of the meeting was a new research article on SliC, a proposal to UNESCO about SL courses, SLiC Website development, and a plan for the promotion of the Web via Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Spotify, and Gmail accounts, Tiktok, and game. In addition, we discussed the collaborative research on community-based and agricultural-based tourism proposed by Thailand, as well as the chapters in the book, “The Elgar Companion to Living Wages and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
